Making Window Seats Work with Your Interior Design

A cozy seat by the window is a cherished place. Bright and embracing, window seats invite you to sit and read a book, take an afternoon nap, or do nothing more than gaze out at the view. And when you consider how much they can improve a space, it is not surprising that window seats are popular

In cramped rooms, window seats provide not only economical seating but much-needed storage space, while larger, less personal areas, a window seat can be a semi-private nook from which a sitter can turn attention to either the window or the activity in the room.

Typically, window seats are built into wall alcoves or recess made by bay windows, but other applications can be just as effective.

For example, you can create an alcove by using bookshelves or
cabinets.

The look of a window seat has changed somewhat overt the years.  However, the concept and its benefits have remained.

In addition to its function as a private getaway for one person, a window seat helps a common room work more effectively for groups by offering a convenient place for a few people to sit and talk while remaining connected to the gathering.

Window seats are versatile by design. And because they accommodate the basic human need to sit and the considerable modern need for storage, they have been adapted for use in all types of rooms. But not all window seats have to include storage space or even be good for sitting.
